It is around this time that we begin looking forward to 2027. This month we sent Project Coordinator, Mark Uhland and Executive Director, Kelly Uhland to evaluate our current projects in the Dominican Republic. They happily report continued improvements to the community of Angosto, thanks to the Angosto Kid's Club we have supported since 2020. It has now grown into a thriving community hub, which now is home to a women's support group of about 15 consistent attendees. Additionally, the kitchen has hosted baking classes meant to provide a potential for additional income for families.Despite improvements, there are specific needs identified at the local schools. New sponsorship opportunities are now available to help make the necessary repairs. We hope to host a few travel groups in 2027 to assist with a variety of projects at both the school, community center, as well as in the capital city of Santo Domingo. A home run for ACES!ACES North America recently joined Crosscutters Baseball at Journey Bank Ballpark to receive a check for $14,250 raised through this year’s Dominican plate Dinner! On behalf of everyone at ACES, thank you for attending, volunteering, donating, sponsoring, bidding, and enjoying our event. With everyone’s support, the money raised will fund our educational programs, community development initiatives, and outreach efforts.
This year’s event included over 35 raffle baskets, 11 live auction items, and a wonderful Dominican meal prepared by Chef Theo at the Genetti Hotel. Eder’s Ice Cream generously provided a delightful topping to the desert while attendees competed to win items such as a whitewater rafting adventure, a week’s stay in the Dominican, cigars, a Blackstone grill, and much more.

ACES North America Appoints Kelly Uhland as New Executive Director Lycoming County, PA — January 2026 — ACES North America is pleased to announce the appointment of Kelly Uhland as its new Executive Director, ushering in a new chapter for the organization as it continues its mission of Advancing Communities through Education and Service.One month ago, on Christmas Day, an article was published highlighting a significant transition for ACES North America. After more than 20 years of visionary leadership, founder and Executive Director Linell Stabler announced her need to step away from the role due to a progressive eye condition that prevents her from continuing the demanding work of leading the organization. Under Linell’s leadership, ACES has transformed countless communities across the Dominican Republic through sustainable service, education, and long-term partnerships.Following a thoughtful leadership search, ACES is proud to welcome Kelly Uhland into the role. Kelly has been connected to ACES for nearly two decades, beginning with her first service trip to the Dominican Republic in 2008. She later served as a dedicated and active member of the ACES Board of Directors from 2019 to 2024, where she played a key role in service projects, organizational growth, and fundraising initiatives.A resident of Lycoming County for the past 22 years and a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology, Kelly brings a strong professional background in business, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Her long-standing commitment to ACES is also deeply personal—Kelly and her husband, Mark, have three children who have participated in multiple ACES service trips over the past 18 years.“Linell built something extraordinary,” said Uhland. “It’s an honor to carry forward her legacy while guiding ACES into its next phase of growth, impact, and sustainability.” ACES North America extends its deepest gratitude to Linell Stabler for her unwavering dedication and leadership, and looks forward with confidence as Kelly Uhland steps into this new role to continue Advancing Communities through Education and Service.Check out our Facebook page for more updates!
